Asset management for blue-green infrastructure – new CIRIA guidance
This webinar launched CIRIA’s new guidance,
Asset management for blue-green infrastructure, and attendees discovered how to implement blue-green infrastructure successfully and sustainably at a corporate level. Attendees learned how to integrate BGI into asset management systems to enhance asset value, improve sustainability, and strengthen community engagement.
UK policy increasingly encourages the implementation of nature-based solutions through Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) in England, Local Nature Recovery Strategies (LNRS), and climate adaptation plans, emphasising that blue-green infrastructure should be a core component of planning and development rather than an optional enhancement.
The increased use of blue-green infrastructure can make water management more resilient by delivering adaptive, multifunctional solutions that respond to environmental, operational, and societal challenges. As these living assets become more widespread, effective management will be critical to realising the full range of benefits they can provide.
Th attendees at this launch webinar heard from the guidance authors, as well as key stakeholders already successfully incorporating BGI as an asset.
